Recipes to Get Raw Milk into Your Kids!

Recipes to Get Raw Milk into Your Kids!

I personally grew up hating milk. My mum said I started rejecting it around the time I was diagnosed with JRA - perhaps my body's way of telling me what would harm me.

Why would milk harm me?

Well, non-organic cow's are pumped with antibiotics, growth hormones and steroids, not to mention they're often not on a diet of just grass, which is what they should be on. We, in turn, then ingest whatever is in them when we eat the meat or drink the milk, which adds to our overall toxic load.

Not only that, but most milk is pasteurised and homogenised, which completely removes all benefits that may have been available to us through that milk. Ironically, these processes actually leech calcium from our bones, the opposite of what we're told milk will do for our kids.

Organic raw milk, on the other hand, is whole unlike highly processed milk, it retains its natural enzymes, beneficial bacteria, and intact proteins and fats, which makes it gentler on digestion and more supportive of overall vitality.

When it's sourced from healthy, pasture-raised, A2 cows, it contains naturally occurring fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K2), minerals, and bioavailable nutrients that play a role in growth, immune resilience, and nervous system health.

For children in particular, the full-fat nature of raw milk provides building blocks for brain development, stable energy, and satiety, nutrients the body recognises and knows how to use. For adults, it's an ancestral food that supports gut diversity and metabolic health.

As with all foods, quality and sourcing matter. Raw milk should always come from a trusted, hygienic farm with high welfare standards, and should always be organic. We have a farm near us that does raw milk, but the cows aren't organic, so it completely defeats the object!

I get my milk from Hill Farm Real Foods and their amazing A2 cows, buying in bulk and freezing it.

My kids don't love the taste of milk on its own, but they start their day with a glass of it every day. Here's how:

RAW MILK CHOCOLATE MILK (my son's preference)

1 cup raw milk

1 tsp organic cacao powder

Drizzle of raw honey

Optional: 1/4 scoop organic vanilla or chocolate protein powder to boost protein for the day

Add to blender and serve!

RAW MILK STRAWBERRY OR BLUEBERRY MILKSHAKE (my daughter's preference)

1 cup raw milk

1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder

Half frozen banana

Handful strawberries (in season) or frozen organic blueberries

Add to blender and serve!

I hope your kids like these recipes as much as my kids do!

In love & health,

Lauren
