The Only Superfood Breakfast Smoothie You Need (for Kids & Adults)

Every morning, I start my day with a smoothie.
Why? Because it enables me to do two important things:
Start my day with protein and get a bunch of nutrients in early on in the day.
My kids used to start their days with this too. I wish they still did, but my son’s sensory food challenges mean he’ll often give something up, and then my daughter follows suit.
Either way, for years this enabled me to get a huge amount of nutrients into him before sending him off to nursery or school.
He’s 10 now, but his sensory food challenges, and what some like to call ARFID — I hate labels — were so bad when he was in nursery that my only saviour with his nutrition was this smoothie.
Every morning, I knew he was getting a bunch of goodness into him. So even if he didn’t eat much the rest of the day, or what he did eat wasn’t of the highest nutritional value, at least he had this.
This smoothie can be amended for kids or adults. Just choose your superfoods and additions based on what you need.
This really is a perfect way to get everything you need into your kids, and yourself, early on in the day in a really palatable and enjoyable way.
I always add protein, and you can amend the amount you add if it’s for kids. I also use raw organic milk for them, which further adds vitamins and nutrients they may be missing elsewhere.
I now use Organised powder to get all the retinol / vitamin A and other essential vitamins and minerals we don't get with our food anymore (use code LAUREN10 for 10% off). You can use this with protein powder or just on its own is enough...
Important: don't get overwhelmed by the length of the recipe. I don’t use all the superfoods each day - I just added them here so you can see which ones you'd like to use and you can alternate them, adding perhaps 3–4 each day. They all work for different things.

Ingredients
- PLEASE READ THE ABOVE FIRST SO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT TO PUT IN AND NOT PUT IN!
- 250ml milk of choice or water. I use half raw organic milk for the kids and half water, or half Plenish almond milk and half water.
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder. Use a vegan option if preferred.
- 1 scoop Organised (use code LAUREN10 for 10% off)
- 1 tsp almond butter. Peanut butter is also an option, but almonds are less inflammatory.
- Handful of frozen organic blueberries.
- Handful of organic spinach.
- Frozen or fresh banana. I add this for the kids to make it more palatable. For adults, omit to keep sugars lower.
- 1 tbsp organic natural or Greek yoghurt for extra protein.
- 1 tsp acai powder.
- 1 tsp reds powder for polyphenols.
- 1 tsp greens powder.
- 1 tsp chia seeds.
- 1 tsp ground flax.
- 1 tsp ashwagandha.
- 1 tsp maca powder.
- 1 tsp reishi powder.
- You can also add cacao powder, turmeric, and other fruit at any point.
Method
Simply put all ingredients into a blender, choosing 3–4 superfoods per day and alternating them.
Blend until smooth and enjoy.
In love and health,
