3-Phase Holistic Parasite Cleanse

Please make sure to read this whole post before implementing this cleanse. It's important you have a clear understanding of how to support your body through this.
I will link products along the way that I feel can support you. Feel free to click on those links to view/buy those products. Most will come with discount codes.
I am not a medical practitioner and offer this guide as simply that: a guide, based on my own research and experience, not as medical advice. You should take this slowly, exercise caution, and remember that there is never a one-size-fits-all approach to wellness. Listen to your body, use the products that feel right to you (you don't need all of them, feel into it) and take it slow. Ok, here goes...
Parasites are a reality of being human, not a reflection of poor hygiene, bad choices, or something “going wrong.” We'll all have them at some point.
We’re exposed through food, water, pets, travel, soil, and even other people. Most of us are walking around with parasites in our guts without even knowing it, which is why doing a cleanse every so often supports us regardless of symptoms. For some people, symptoms might be evident: bloating, skin issues, fatigue, nutrient deficiencies, immune strain, or stubborn health symptoms that don’t fully resolve.
The idea of this cleanse is to cleanse the body of parasites gently, mindfully, and without the body feeling like it's being attacked, which could result in Herxheimer symptoms.
A parasite cleanse done properly has three distinct phases. Skipping one often leads to unnecessary discomfort, poor results, or symptoms people mistakenly label as “die-off.”A terrain-first approach to parasite elimination, gut repair, and long-term resilience is what we're aiming for here.
This protocol is designed to address parasites without overwhelming the body, by first strengthening digestion and detox pathways, then gently eliminating parasites, and finally restoring the gut and immune system.
Parasite cleansing is not just about “killing bugs.”It’s about changing the internal environment so parasites cannot thrive, now or in the future.
Foundational Support (applies to all phases)
These principles support the body throughout the entire cleanse:
Dietary Support
Remove sugar and refined carbohydrates: Parasites thrive on sugar and simple carbs.
Increase fibre intake: Toxins bind to fibre. When we eliminate (through pooping), if we have enough fibre, the toxins and dead parasites will bind to the poop and be eliminated from the body.
Eat whole, anti-inflammatory foods: Prioritise organic vegetables, healthy fats, clean protein, and bitter greens.
Hydration & Detox
Drink 2–3 litres of filtered water daily
Support liver detox with herbs such as milk thistle or dandelion
Lifestyle & Prevention
Wash hands thoroughly
Cook meat thoroughly; avoid raw pork and non-sushi-grade fish
Filtered, purified drinking water where possible. Options here and here.
Rotate antiparasitic foods regularly (pumpkin seeds, garlic, papaya seeds, coconut oil)
If symptoms persist, consider testing
Phase 1: Preparation (7–14 days)
Strengthen the terrain
Goal: To improve digestion, bile flow, and detox capacity so parasites become easier to eliminate, and die-off symptoms are minimised.
This phase is crucial. Skipping it often leads to fatigue, headaches, nausea, or skin flare-ups during the kill phase.
Gut-Supportive Diet
Anti-inflammatory, low-sugar diet
Increase fibre from:
Flaxseeds, chia seeds
Leafy greens, vegetables
Add gut-healing foods:
Bone broth
Fermented foods (sauerkraut, kimchi)
Prebiotic foods (onion, garlic, leeks)
Digestive enzymes + Betaine HCl ( this supplement includes both - 1–2 capsules with meals if tolerated)
Bitter herbs or bile support
Hydration is non-negotiable
Binders (away from food):
1–2x daily
Lymphatic support
Dry brushing
Sauna or gentle sweating
I recommend Para-shield which contains all the herbs and botanicals needed in one place. Buy here and read instructions on page carefully. This is the main product you'll need for this cleanse.
Wormwood (Artemisia annua)
Black Walnut Hull: Disrupts parasite life cycles
Clove: Targets parasite eggs (crucial for preventing reinfection)
Berberine: Broad antimicrobial; supports gut balance
Mimosa pudica: Helps remove parasites and biofilms from the intestines
Pau D’Arco: Antifungal and antiparasitic
Oregano oil: 2–3 drops in water twice daily or 200 mg capsules
Food-grade diatomaceous earth1 tsp daily in water: Helps mechanically remove parasites from the gut
NOTE: Continue binders and hydration during this phase to reduce die-off symptoms.
High-quality probiotics: Focusing on Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains
Prebiotic fibres
Inulin (included in above probiotic)
Resistant starch
Psyllium husk (add to smoothie)
L-glutamine: 5–10 g daily to support intestinal repair
Collagen or bone broth (I love this recipe): Strengthens the gut barrier
Soothing herbs
Aloe vera (1 tsp x2 a day)
Pumpkin seeds: Contain cucurbitacin, which helps paralyse and expel worms
Papaya seeds: Traditionally used against intestinal parasites, grind and add to smoothie or water, and eat the papaya
Garlic & onion: Natural antimicrobial properties
Oregano: Antifungal and antiparasitic, using oregano oil has huge positive impacts on the body
Wholefood vitamin C: Support immune defence
Ivermectin – for certain parasites and protozoa
Mebendazole or fenbendazole – for roundworms and tapeworms
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Managing chronic illness
Supporting children
Highly sensitive or depleted
Foods That Naturally Support Parasite Elimination
Extra
If you know you have MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome) and that you have histamine intolerance, I'd add in this DAO (diamine oxidase) supplement during phase 1.
Pharmaceutical Support
I don't personally advocate for this approach, because to me, all pharmaceuticals are non-natural, no matter what the "wellness world" says about them. However, should you wish to really go all in, you have these options:
If herbal approaches are insufficient, a doctor may prescribe:
A Note on Safety & Individualisation
This protocol is not one-size-fits-all.
If you are:
Final note
You should approach parasite work gently and with professional guidance. As mentioned above, I am not a medical doctor and I offer this guide as just that, a guide, to be followed using your own discernment. Listen to your body, support your detox pathways, rest lots, move slowly and always tune into what feels good for your body.
There will be some points during a cleanse where you might experience symptoms such as headaches, slight nausea, tiredness etc. However, if at any point during this cleanse you feel very unwell, please visit the doctor or a relevant holistic practitioner.
I hope this helps you to cleanse your body of parasites, and start afresh with a clean, healthy gut, and, subsequently, healthy body!
In love & health,
Lauren
