Peppermint Matcha Latte
Smoothies, Juices & Other Drinks

When Braxton was about 6 months, I wanted to start a gentle detoxification of the fertility drugs I had to take to conceive him, so I decided to start drinking matcha tea. I bought the ceremonial grade (this is the highest grade and should be the one you use if it’s for drinking) and started having one cup a day (you shouldn't really have more if you're breastfeeding).
One afternoon I fancied something sweet. I used to love a chai tea latte at Starbucks but I try not to drink any of that anymore, so I decided to go a little different from my chai and turmeric lattes and make a matcha latte. I love it with peppermint (I used doTerra peppermint essential oil) as it gives it a little kick.
You don't have to add maple but can add a tiny drop if you want some sweetness.
Here are 10 reasons why matcha is SO beneficial to health:
High in anti-oxidants
Loaded with catechin, which is one of the most potent and beneficial of all anti-oxidants
Enhances calm, leading us to a higher state of consciousness. Japanese Zen and Buddhist Monks drink matcha
Boosts memory and concentration. The L-Theanine content in matcha helps increase the production of dopamine and serotonin
Increases energy levels and endurance
Burns calories and increases metabolism, without any of the nasty side effects of diet drinks of pills
Detoxifies the body thanks to its huge chlorophyl content
Strengthens the immune system with its anti-biotic properties
Improves cholesterol
Tastes good :)
You're welcome :)
Ingredients
1 tsp ceremonial grade matcha tea
1 mug full of almond milk
1 drop organic peppermint oil
Drop of maple syrup (optional)
Method
Heat the almond milk in a saucepan over a medium heat. Once it’s hot, add the matcha, stir quite well to get the milk to absorb the powder, then add the maple if using and peppermint oil and stir until well incorporated.
Pour into a mug and beat with a fork to make sure the powder has dissolved. Enjoy as a warming, satisfying afternoon drink.
Enjoy!
Love,
Lauren
